When one of the top track racing countries in the world requests that we design the fastest track bike in the world, the Factor HANZŌ Track is the result. In development for over 2 years, raced at the highest level on the biggest stage in the world, the HANZŌ Track pursuit racing bike is the absolute pinnacle of streamline speed.
Tailor made for the Australian national track team, the HANZŌ Track offers ultra-efficient aerodynamics while maintaining supreme rigidity for power transfer. We’ve accomplished this by maintaining the stiffness in the layup while meticulously developing the aerodynamic design. As a pure pursuit racing bike, aerodynamics and straight-line speed are the ultimate goal.
Developed in tandem with the Black Inc Zero Track wheels, the HANZŌ Track proves to be an elite tool for world record performances.
The HANZŌ Track underwent a 2 year long development process to fine tune the interaction of the air flow between the bike and athlete. We converged on a radical concept that positions the legs of the fork wide to better manage the airflow around the rider's moving legs, and to produce cleaner airflow in the channel between the frame and the rider. The wide seatstays capture air off the legs and maintain the flow conditions in open channel. The cleaner air around the bike allowed us to optimize the interactive aerodynamic effect of the Black Inc Zero’s, creating a symbiotic equation for speed.
The importance of enhancing the aerodynamics of the HANZŌ Track is finely balanced with the need to maintain the frame’s stiffness which ensures efficient power transfer under the highest loads produced by cyclists anywhere in the world. Taking advantage of our inhouse expertise in carbon-layup and developed in our own R&D facility, the frame’s material has been precisely placed throughout to ensure the highest level of rigidity. The sculpted frame uses massive chainstays to promote power efficiency while the shaping around the bottom bracket ensures smooth transition of pedaling forces through long-fiber orientation.
In collaboration with Aus Cycling, we’ve designed the Black Inc ZERO Track disc wheel to be as stiff as possible. To enhance rigidity while reducing weight, the wheels feature buttressed internal flanges, creating shear walls between the opposite wheel faces. This new technology allowed for the elimination of several stiffness plies in the overall layup. Extreme attention to detail in the alignment, cutting, and layout of the top layer of Spread Tow fibers (TexTreme) enabled us to eschew any cosmetic outer layer, further reducing weight. Results from extensive wind tunnel testing with the Aus Cycling project showed that a polished finish proved to be the most aerodynamic.
